Miss Americaâs Teen 2024: Hanley House of North Carolina wins the crown
Hanley House was crowned Miss America’s Teen 2024 on Saturday night in Orlando, Florida.
House, 13, who competed as Miss North Carolina’s Teen, is a Raleigh native and a student at Cleveland High School. She performed a lyrical dance routine to “Don’t Stop Believin’” in the pageant’s talent competition. The teen competition — which includes talent, evening gown and on-stage question segments — is part of the Miss America organization.
Along with the title of Miss America’s Teen, House will receive a prize package of $60,000 in tuition scholarships to attend a school of her choice or a four-year Presidential Scholarship to the University of Alabama, according to the Miss America organization.
Here’s House’s bio from the Miss North Carolina’s Teen:
“A 13-year competitive dancer, Hanley has earned national awards and studied ballet programs throughout the country, including Alonzo King Lines Ballet in San Francisco as well as Joffrey Ballet School in New York City. Hanley started her own vinyl design business at age 12, inspiring her to create her community service initiative ‘Passion to Profit’ —empowering young entrepreneurs and building real-world skills. Through her business, she has been able to donate more than $1,000 to the American Heart Association. She is a student at Cleveland High School and plans to further her education by studying architecture and design while performing on the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill ‘Carolina Girls’ dance team.”
During her year as Miss America’s Teen, House will travel across the country and use her platform to raise awareness about her philanthropic effort. She’ll also serve as a role model for young girls and a brand ambassador for the Miss America’s Teen program, according to a press release.
Elaina Burt of Hoover participated in the national pageant as Miss Alabama’s Teen, but didn’t make the top 11 on Saturday. However, Burt was one of three winners in a talent preliminary this week for Miss America’s Teen, earning a $3,000 scholarship. Burt is a ballet dancer and senior at Briarwood Christian School. Her philanthropic platform for Miss Alabama’s Teen is Charlie’s Chance: Overcoming Epilepsy Together.
